RunningWorks Cross Country Camp: Recreation at Blair Academy, 2008
This page shows runners just hanging out and enjoying themselves. In addition to the common
rooms -- equipped with TV's -- that are available in each dorm, there's a campus Canteen for snacks
and relaxing, and an orchestra room that serves as our dance hall! Meal time in the cafeteria also affords
some time for socializing while campers enjoy some great meals! Unfortunately, the wrestling gym
and the pool are under construction so we missed those wild games of water polo and dodgeball
that marked previous years' programs! But there were many other outdoor games available -- from volleyball and
frisbee to wiffle ball and kickball -- and, if you scheduled your afternoon time well, you could
actually play a round on Blair's 9-hole golf course, or spend some time fishing in Blair Lake or the river by
the Rail Trail! Reading is allowed, too! And in addition to all of that, RunningWorks' signature Trivia
Night and the Dance Social were also wildly entertaining events.
The Trivia Night competition was fierce as usual with teams answering questions on topics such as
Track and Cross Country, movie dialogue and titles, company advertising slogans, music lyrics and titles, and
world history! View the pictures and try to judge who won the Men's and Women's Theme Awards, and who took
the overall championship this year! Nike clothes were awarded to the winners!
The Dance Night Social was a noisy affair and just what the campers wanted! A professional DJ played
all the latest dance music, and, throughout the evening, campers had the opportunity to win dozens of pairs of Nike
Shoes and other Nike products! Oh, and did we mention the unofficial watermelon-eating contest that unfolded on
the front patio?!
