RunningWorks Cross Country Camp Staff at Camp Canadensis, 2007
This page provides pictures of some of the forty-plus members of the RunningWorks staff at Canadensis,
and of our special guest speakers from the University of Wisconsin and Nike, 11-time All-American and
winner of 5 NCAA distance titles, Chris Solinsky, and 2-time Olympian and 3-time US Champion in
the Steeplechase, Pascal Dobert!
This year, the staff was especially busy. Besides serving as cabin proctors, activities supervisors, and
running group leaders, staff members taught a variety of classes throughout the week. Marcus O'Sullivan made
two presentations, one on Threshold Training and a second motivational talk based on his early experiences
in running. Ringo Adamson and Clair Duncan did a segment on Core Training and Flexibility Drills; Marc
Pelerin used video in Gait Analysis; Chris Grottini and Dave Donahue led classes on Training to Win;
and John Richardson, Mike Kerrigan, Bernie Muller, Anthony Kelhower and Tim Styler presented a wide-ranging seminar
on Raceday Preparation.
In addition, besides the optional afternoon activities -- ga ga, volleyball, swimming, frisbee, wiffle ball,
kayaking etc. -- the staff offered optional afternoon classes as well. These included the College Talk with Marcus
O'Sullivan and Steve Shaklee; the Shoe Talk with Dave Welsh and Clair Duncan; the SAT Prep class, "Four
down-and-dirty ways to score 800 in the Math SAT" by Chris Callinan; the Sports Nutrition Talk led by Dave Heenan
and Kara Horner; a Personal Talk on Racing with John Richardson; or a visit to the Nike Van attended
by RW's former counselor and now Nike Representative, John Phillips.

This year, RunningWorks invited two special guest speakers to Camp Canadensis: Chris Solinsky and
Pascal Dobert! Chris Solinsky recently graduated from the Univesity of Wisconsin but his achievements are
legendary! To mention only a few, in high school, Chris won 8 state championships and set state records in 5 different
events. In 2002, he won both the Great American and the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships, winning the later by
20 seconds! His PR's in high school were 4:03.80 in the 1600m and 8:43.24 in the 3200m. At Wisconsin, he was recognized
as an All-American 14 times and won 5 NCAA distance championships! He is now sponsored by Nike and competing internationally.
Although Pascal Dobert describes himself as a "second-tier" runner in high school, he graduated in 1992 as the
Maryland State Champion in Cross Country and as the 1600m and 3200m State Champion in Track and Field! At Wisconsin, he
continued in Cross Country, finishing between 57th and 32nd in three NCAA CC Championships, but began to focus on the
Steeplechase where, in his senior year, he was ranked # 1 and won the NCAA Championships. Today, he's a 2-time Olympian
with 3 USA Championships in the Steeplechase! He oversees Nike's Youth and High School programs throughout the US.
