RunningWorks Cross Country Camp at Blair Academy, Staff 2007
This page provides pictures of some of the 25 members of the RunningWorks staff at Blair, both
at work and play, and of special guest speaker, Erin Donahue, a former
RunningWorks camper; a 2005 graduate of The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill;
and now a professional athlete with Nike.
Besides serving as dorm proctors, activities supervisors, and running group leaders, staff members
taught a variety of classes throughout the week. Marcus O'Sullivan made two presentations, one on
Threshold Training and a second motivational talk based on his early experiences in running.
Ringo Adamson did a segment on Core Training and Flexibility Drills; Desmond Dunham led
a class on Sports Motivation; Tim McMahon and Tia Clemmons asked the campers to
address various problems that a coach might face in "You're the Coach;" Marc Pelerin used video in
Gait Analysis; and Chris Grottini and Dave Donahue led classes in Preparing to Race.
In addition, besides the optional afternoon activities -- volleyball, swimming, frisbee, wiffle ball, golf
(no kidding, there's time for a quick 9 if you grab a snack for lunch!), etc. -- optional
afternoon classes were also available. These included the College Talk with Marcus O'Sullivan and
Steve Shaklee; the Shoe Talk with Dave Welsh and Clair Duncan; the SAT Prep class, "Two down-and-dirty
ways to score 800 in the Math SAT" by Chris Callinan; the Sports Nutrition Talk led by Dave Welsh and Clair Duncan;
or a visit to the Nike Van attended by RW's former counselor and now Nike Representative,
John Phillips.

This year, RunningWorks' special guest speaker at Blair Academy was Erin Donahue, a
2005 graduate of UNC. There she received numerous All-American and All-ACC honors,
and she was a member of teams that set the national record in the DMR and
school records in the 4 X 880m and the 4 X 1500m relays! After graduation, Erin was quickly
signed by Nike where she continues her running career. Most recently, she earned a place in the 1500m
at the World Championships of Track and Field in Osaka, Japan and made it through to the semi-finals!
GO ERIN!
As a high school athlete in Haddonfield, New Jersey, Erin participated at various times in Soccer,
Basketball, Cross Country, and Indoor and Outdoor Track where her individual achievements include a national
championship in the Mile and state championships in the 1600m, the 3200m and the Javelin!
