Lisa's Fund
Lisa's Fund is named after Lisa Cosentino (nee Grottini), born on October 4, 1961. Lisa recently passed away at the youthful age of 46 after a twenty-year fight with cancer. She is survived by her husband Richard, parents Mario and Jennie and her sister Donna Jean, brother Christopher, and sister-in-law Kristy (the latter of whom are counselors at camp). Lisa was a graduate of Highland High School and though athletic, never really took to organized high school sports. It was her request that a fund be established through RunningWorks, Inc in order to help a young student-athlete in financial need attend camp.
Throughout her fight with cancer, those that came to know Lisa would never have guessed her to be in such distress. She lived her life as any healthy person does. She worked hard, started a life with her husband and was always there for someone in need. Never once would you hear her complain. It was the hand she had been dealt, and there was no way she was going to let it get the best of her. In November of 2007, Lisa's health deteriorated. She began to lose strength in her body and legs. However, Lisa remained the strong one in the family - right up to her passing on December 15, 2007. The way she lived her life will forever be an inspiration to her family and friends.
Lisa wanted to provide opportunities for young adults in need. Lisa's Fund is named in her honor and shares the same goal: to be able to provide on a yearly basis, a full scholarship to attend Running Works Cross Country Camp. A student-athlete will be required to provide legitimacy of their need in the form of an essay that validates that need.
Essays may be submitted to: run@runningworks.com.
The entry is due by July 1, 2008 and the length should be a maximum of one page, single-spaced typed.
Scholarship award winners will be chosen by the Grottini/Cosentino family.
